19th Century English Regency Mahogany Serving Table
An English Regency Period Mahogany Serving Table with a Raised Back.
This interesting table has a raised triangular back. The mahogany has a rich colour, the bookmatched veneers on the back are beautifully figured. There is a carved moulding under the top and there is a concealed central drawer in the frieze.
The table stands on four turned legs, the front pair terminating in overscale carved paws in the manner of the designs published by George Smith. Paw feet are something of a hallmark of Irish furniture but it seems likely that this piece is English.
A very impressive table in life. Quality timbers used throughout and the oversized paws are outstanding!
