19th Century English Regency Burr Oak Centre Table
19th Century English Regency Burr Oak Centre Table with Tilting Top.
This fabulous table has a lovely glowing golden colour, the result of the fine burr oak veneers, which are on top of mahogany which is a great sign of quality, aging beautifully with time and continued wax polishing. The table is of large size and has a quadripartite platform base with four incurved feet with carved decoration. The tapering column stem has carved beaded detailing applied to the base and to the edges of the fielded panels on each side. The timbers used throughout, particularly on the top are exceptional, made up from choice cuts of the best figure, showing great variation in colour.
A lovely table which can only have been produced by one of the leading workshops of the period.
