Pair of 19th Century Holland and Sons Oak Library Armchairs

SOLD
A High Quality and Desirable 19th Century Pair of Holland and Sons Oak Library Armchairs with Original Upholstery.

Made by the famous firm of Holland and Sons in the mid 19th century, these fine over scale library armchairs retain their original leather cloth (sometimes called Rexine) upholstery which could be retained as is for that charming "gentleman's club" or country house look or reupholstered if preferred. The upholstery is buttoned throughout and the chairs are extremely comfortable, the deep seats and fully upholstered arms making them easy to sit on and supportive to the body. They are extremely sturdy and durable, the wooden elements of the piece being carved in oak with geometric mouldings. The chairs retain their original unusual castors. They are stamped Holland and Sons, not simply attributed to the firm.

Holland and Sons are rightly regarded as one of the most important furniture makers of the 19th century. These chairs are beautifully designed and made.
