A 19th Century French Mahogany Bureau Plat.
The top has a tooled leather insert and there are two pull out slides to the sides, also with leather inserts. The mahogany top is decorated with brass stringing, and the edges have a Greek key pattern as a border, an unusual feature. There are two drawers below. Raised on four tapering, fluted legs with gilt brass mounts and turned feet.
A exceptional quality model that would have been produced in a top workshop. One of the best examples of this style we have aquired.
