Pair of 18th Century Ash Side Chairs
A Pair of Good Size, 18th Century Ash Side Chairs.
These lovely chairs have arched and scrolling top rails with scrolled paterae, and were made around 1730. They were country made, probably in England but possibly in Ireland. The back splats are made from figured burr ash, with straighter grained timber used for the rails. The carved and scrolling knees use more burr timber and the legs terminate in pad feet. The drop-in seats are upholstered in 20th century floral needlework.
A beautiful pair of chairs with excellent colour and patination.
