18th Century French Walnut Combination Games Table.
Known as a tric trac table, this piece has a removable and reversible top which conceals an inlaid backgammon board and has baize on one side and leather on the other. Two small drawers and one larger pull-out drawer are designed for storing playing pieces and the leather insert in the top can be used to play card games or as a writing table. The table is decorated throughout with inlay in simulation of fluting, flanked by inlaid chevron borders on the frieze. The fluted inlay is also on the legs which terminate in ormolu sabots.
