Small 18th Century French Mahogany Side Cabinet with Marble Top.
This small side cabinet or commode of Louis XVI period, consists of a central drawer in a protruding frieze above a recessed cupboard section below. The curving sides of the piece are joined to a straight front, an unusual design which is not often seen. Standing on four tapering square sectioned legs with ormolu toes. Inside the cupboard is a single adjustable shelf and it has a white veined marble top, shaped to follow the lines of the cabinet below. The drawer, the sides and the doors have ormolu edge mounts.
