19th Century Italian Paint and Gilt Console Table
A Pretty 19th Century Italian Paint and Parcel Gilt Console Table.
This lovely console table with concave shaped corners to the front, is a good example of an Italian neoclassical console or side table. The top is shaped faux Siena marble and follows the contours of the base, and the table frame is decorated with a painted finish and gilt highlights. Some of these highlighted areas included swags of flowers and the lions' masks. The table is supported on six square sectioned legs with slightly out curved feet, linked stretchers. The outside edges of the legs are gilded, the central sections painted, continuing the decorative scheme.
