Small 18th Century French Walnut Commode
A Small 18th Century French Walnut Commode with Original Marble Top and Two Drawers.
This lovely Louis XVI period commode is of rectangular form with a subtle breakfront shape to the drawer fronts, the centres set forward very slightly. The drawer fronts are quartered veneered in straight grained walnut, laid geometrically, with strung panels of highly figured burr walnut to the centres. The grey and white veined marble top has a moulded edge. The sides of the piece are inlaid with bookmatched burr walnut panels in the centres and the commode stands on tapering square sectioned legs.
Of small size, this is an attractive and well made commode with original escutcheons.
