Small 18th Century English Walnut Cabinet on Chest
An Excellent 18th Century English Queen Anne Walnut Cabinet on Chest of Nice Scale and Proportion.
This wonderful cabinet is veneered in walnut of the highest quality. It consists of a top section with the two doors concealing an array of smaller drawers, and a chest of drawers at the bottom. All of the drawers have gilt brass drop handles and engraved escutcheon plates. There is also a concealed drawer in the front of the top frieze above the cupboard doors. It has attained a fabulous colour and patination. The curly veneers used for the front and back of the cupboard doors are exceptionally good and the drawer fronts all have bookmatched veneers, as do the sides of the carcass. There are mouldings used where the two sections meet and also around the base of the chest above the flattened bun feet.
