George I Style English Mahogany Side Table
An George I Style English Mahogany Side Table with Marble Top, c.1910.
This handsome table was made in the early 20th century in the George I style. Constructed in fine quality mahogany which has attained a good colour and patination. The top is a thick and well figured marble. The frieze has moulded detailing and in the centre is a carved shell, echoed in the carving on the knees which also incorporates shell motifs. There are restrained C scrolls on the legs, flanking the knees, and the legs have a gentle cabriole profile and terminate in pad feet.
