19th Century English Regency Amboyna Library Table
A 19th Century English Regency Amboyna Library Table.
This lovely library table is veneered in highly figured amboyna timber which is pale and golden in colour. The top has a fabulous colour and there is a fine crossbanding of coromandel wood. It has rounded corners and there are two drawers in the frieze below with ebony inlay and ebonised knobs. It is supported on dual end supports with baluster turned columns, joined by square sections with applied carved paterae. There is contrasting geometric inlay, of leaf designs, on the side of each support. The two end supports are joined by a long, turned stretcher with additional baluster detailing and terminate in socket castors.
This is a table that probably would once have graced a very grand library.
