Small Early 18th Century English Walnut Bureau
An Exceptional, Early 18th Century English Walnut Bureau of Small Size.
This bureau has a great colour and is of small size. It retains all of its original hardware with brass plate handles and escutcheon plates. The walnut veneers are of excellent quality and bookmatched across each of the drawers and the fall front, and also on the sides. Each of the sections are featherbanded, a sign of great quality. It stands beautifully on tall bracket feet.
The interior has pigeon holes and small drawers, all with original small brass pulls, and a central cupboard with a concave front with an inlaid sunburst section above. The cupboard door is flanked by two classical columns which conceal hidden compartments.
An extremely good example with the finest timber used, the sides of the bureau being exceptional.
