Large 19th Century English Regency Window Seat
A large 19th Century English Regency Ebonised and Parcel Gilt Window Seat, Circa 1820.
Of generous proportions and finished on both sides, stripped back to the original upholstered seat, beautifully done. Having boldly scrolled and out-swept ends, the ebonised frame enriched with gilt mouldings and centred to each side by a carved and gilt patera, flanked by stylised gilt foliate ornament, raised on four boldly arched and splayed legs outlined in gilt and terminating in inward-scrolling feet. The upholstered ends similarly edged with gilt decoration, the reverse fully finished, demonstrating its original conception as a free-standing piece.
