Small 18th Century French Mahogany Commode
A Small 18th Century French Mahogany Commode.
This lovely commode is of late Louis XVI period and is unusually small in size. Veneered in mahogany of lovely colour. It has two equally sized deep drawers and stands on turned and fluted legs with toupie feet. The hardware is original and of excellent quality, each drawer having two drawer pulls and an escutcheon in gilt bronze with neoclassical detailing.
The moulded marble top is grey with black and white veins and beautifully figured and shaped to conform to the shape of the commode, the outset corners being followed precisely a sign of extremely high quality.
