17th Century Spanish Leather Chest or Trunk.
This highly decorative trunk or chest is of 17th century date and covered in leather which has been ornamented with gilded nails. This form of decoration was popular throughout Europe amongst the nobility and wealthy gentry able to afford such luxuries. The hinges are made in wrought iron. It has a flat top. Inside has beautiful floral lining paper with lovely strong colours.
An interesting example of a leather trunk of early date in good condition.
