An Important Mid 19th Century Italian Wrought Iron Bed Frame

An Important and Decorative Mid 19th Century Wrought Iron Bed Frame, Probably Northern Italian, with Original Gilt and Painted Decoration of Exceptional Quality and Maker's Stamp.
The frame made entirely of wrought iron with gilded details such as the urn finials to each corner and the expertly applied gilt painted highlights throughout such as feather banded detail, leaf work and scrolling patterns all expertly applied to parts of the flowing anthemion-themed frame.
This wonderful bed frame is a masterpiece of wrought iron work and, unusually, it is stamped with the maker's name. The name appears to be Raiqui or Raiqu. A very similar bed frame was sold at Sotheby's New York on the 15th of October 2007, lot 559, for $49,000. This frame has precisely the same shaped geometric splat and the same circle designs used to the side friezes and the same outstanding gilt and floral painted decoration to the headboard and footboard.
