19th Century English Regency Mahogany Drum Table
SOLD
A Very Fine English Regency Period Mahogany Drum Form Library or Rent Table.
One of the most pleasing designs introduced in the late 18th century but popularised in the regency period, the drum table consists, as might be expected, of a drum-shaped top that, in the finest examples such as this one, revolves on a central column base.
Our table features a particularly fine gilt tooled leather insert which has aged beautifully and allows the piece to be used as a grand writing table if desired as well as making it easier to stand objects on top of it without risking any damage to the table. The table has four working drawers alternating with dummy ones and stands on four legs.
This table has acquired a fine colour and patination over time and is a lovely example of a very important sort of table.
