An 18th Century Italian Cherry and Walnut Commode of Good Colour and Patination.
This lovely commode is of typical rectangular shape with overhanging top and a two small and two long drawer configuration. The commode is inlaid throughout with geometric parquetry stringing, used both as borders on the top and on the drawer fronts where it has been combined with various cuts of walnut inlaid at angles to create further surface interest. The sides of the piece are also inlaid in the same manner. Standing on tapering toupie feet with further inlay to the feet themselves and to the collars which are inlaid in imitation of fluting.
