A Decorative French 19th Century Tall Chest of Drawers with Chinese Lacquer Panels.
This fine tall and narrow chest of drawers, or tallboy, is of Italian origin and 19th century date. However it incorporates Chinese lacquer panels for its decoration, making it very unusual indeed. The chest has two shallow frieze drawers and four deeper drawers of uniform size. The lacquer is of good quality and very decorative.
The chest stands on shaped feet. Its relatively narrow width, and additional height, mean that this piece provides the maximum amount of storage space for a given area of floor space-very useful in the modern home. A very interesting piece of European furniture.
