19th Century Attractive English Burr Elm Centre Table.

This beautiful table utilises the very finest burr elm veneers. The circular top is made from very well chosen bookmatched veneers, highlighted by two rings of ebony stringing. The top hangs out over the frieze, the base of which has an applied beaded moulding of very fine quality. The top and frieze are of unusually slim and elegant proportions which is a very appealing feature. The top is supported on a tapering column of octagonal section with an additional octagonal moulding to the base and a collar of stiff leaf ornament. This leads to a quadripartite platform base which is standing on four deeply reeded feet of stylised flattened bun form.

This beautiful table is more than large enough to be used as a dining or breakfast table but could equally be used in the centre of a large entrance hall or a library. The table has acquired the most desirable golden colour and the figured timbers used throughout are truly wonderful. A really beautiful piece of furniture that will only get better with age.
