19th Century Regency Period Mahogany Dressing Table or Desk
SOLD
A Lovely Regency Period Mahogany and Ebonised Dressing Table or Desk. Circa 1800
Of typical form but with the relatively unusual feature of a high back, this lovely mahogany table was originally intended as a bedroom dressing table. The height of these pieces, intended to be used by a seated person when made, means that they also make fine writing tables today, whether in a bedroom or a more public room in the house. This example has ebonised details to the turned legs and on the drawer fronts, the combination of mahogany and ebony being a classic one during this period. The mahogany is of high quality and a good colour and figure and the two frieze drawers are of a generous size. The piece retains extremely fine fire gilt castors.
