Large 19th Century Oak Bookcase

Very large 19th Century French oak library bookcase stamped Mon Krieger Paris, beautifully proportioned with glazed doors and great patina. Having a sizeable, overhanging, breakfront moulded cornice on top, and glazed doors below, flanked by turned and fluted pedestal columns.
The base of the doors having fine quality façade decor, particularly geometric in arrangement, with raised panels or 'pillows' giving it an architectural influence. A monumental bookcase!
The firm Krieger were furniture manufacturers, established in 1826. They produced and exhibited pieces in Great Exhibitions, such as the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Their style was inspired by eighteenth century items and Empire designs, with a modern impression of Louis XV and XVI period furniture.
